Why we go...

Howdy folks! We are just three weeks away from flying over to Kenya! As our excitement grows I wanted to be as informative as I could to those of you checking out my updates. So one of the most common questions I keep getting is this: Why are you going?

A fair question, no doubt... especially coming from someone you're asking for money from!! So here's where your money is going: We are working with Christian workers in the area. They have the HUGE task of daily trying to reach their communities, ones filled with animist Maasai. The question becomes: How do we better equip them to affect change in a society which values the power of God's creation over the Creator?!?

So we are holding a couple of conferences, aimed at equipping youth workers and women to effectively minister. This is obviously no easy task, not only do we have to consider the cultural differences, but our entire way of thinking is different than theirs. Our Roman-road method of preaching Jesus over sin is not as effective in a culture that demands physical proof of power! This is a tricky undertaking, one that we are prayerfully approaching as we try and open the door for future trips.

Carlos Rousselin - Me! Pray for God's call on my life as I do mission work.
Jennifer Sanders - Pray that Jenn continues to grow herself as well as those around her. Her spiritual gifts are already at work in our planning.
Sam Musabyiamana - College student, has family ties to ALARM and Kenya. Feels God's call to missions as well. Sam has an amazing ability to put a smile on anyone's face.
Tabita Asnevica - One of our Latvian friends! God's work in her life is very evident, pray for her travel as she leaves Latvia to meet us in Kenya. She is wonderful with children and God has called her to work in children and youth ministries.
Tommy Weathersbee - Our missions minster, pray that God continues to use him to bring our church to a place where it falls in love with missions.
Kim Verrier - Kim leaves her 4 children in the capable hands of her husband. She asks prayers for her work in Africa.
Lee Ann Hodo - Pray for her as she fulfills a longtime calling to the mission field.
Erika Minshew-Diaz - Pray for her as she gets everything in order to travel. Her energy is electric and contagious.
Clark Randall - A wonderful addition to our team, Clark is helping us with the curriculum and organization.
Patty Alewyne - Patty joins us from Louisiana, Kim's mother! She heard God's tug on her heart when this trip came to her attention. Pray as God uses her in Africa.

So that's the team! I am excited the range of personalities and gifts that God has assembled. It will be a wonderful experience!!!
